| | The Start Of Something New (22nd May 08 at 12:55am UTC) | | Gabriella shyly walked into the big New Years party that was put on just for teens. As she opened the door she could hear the noise. Her hands gripped harder on her book that she was holding and the other hand opened the door. Her eyes searched the area and saw loads of balloons hanging up along with signs that say, 'Happy New Year'.
She could hear music from the singers that were already up at the karaoke stage and then as she walked in more a guy greeted her with a huge red cowboy hat. A giggle came out of her mouth as she moved on. Her feet brought her to a small couch facing the karaoke stage. Gabriella could careless about the singing as she fixed her bangs to the side of her face and started to read her book. As she did she put her purse to her left side and shifted her weight to the other side. The words that the author wrote kept her eyes busy as her mind went into a different world instead of this one. It was almost like she couldn’t hear the music or see the other teens that were passing by her. She always liked it this way though because she liked to keep to herself, since she was shy and barely liked parties. She wasn’t social like most teens and instead read to keep the time passing. When more pages passed she was enjoying her her book and where she was and hoped that nothing will disrupt her.

He looked around quickly and almost at once wanted to be back in the gym, that was in the resort, but knew he had to stay at the party, no matter how much he didn't want it.
Troy made his way to where they were holding karaoke, only because he knew someone standnig there, so at least he had something to do. Once there he greeted the guy he knew, and didn't say much else, as he had a sudden urge to sing, but it died quite quickly.
Troy started getting bored fast, which made him yawn as he leaned on the wall, he starting regretting being there as a spot light landed on him what in the world he thought | |

"What the . . ?" she thought to herself and then tried to see what was infront of her. Her eyes adjusted to the light and saw a few people coming towards her while a teenage boy's voice said, "and you."
She wanted to back down but the other teenagers got her up, took her book, and dragged her to the stage. Gabriella was getting stage fright as soon as she was on the small stage. Her eyes closed and she took a deep breath. Then she looked at the stranger that was beside her and blushed. Gabriella tried to ignore it as she looked straight at the TV with the lyrics as the music started to play. "You will thank me for this one day . . or not." was the last words she heard from the same teenage voice and she closed her arms. | |

| | Re: The Start Of Something New (26th May 08 at 2:48pm UTC) | | Troy tried to back away before anyone could grab him to get him up on the karaoke stage but it was already to late, about three people were trying to get him up there, all he could try to do was speak his way out of it "guys I don't sing really, I don't" but before he knew it Troy Bolton was looking at the room behind a microphone stand.
He looked at the girl beside him but quickly looked away and went a little red, he looked up at the screen as he grabbed the microphone off the emcee, he looked at him with a quizzical look when he said "You will thank me for this one day . . or not." Troy placed the microphone in it's stand as the music started, he knew there was no way out of it so he took a deep breath and began to sing.
"Living in my own world, didn't understand" Troy cleared his throat "that anything can happen, when you take a chance." Troy thought the girl wasn't going to sing so he began to walk off. | |

It made her take a deep breath again and sang, "I never believed in what I couldn't see, I never opened my heart to all the possibilities." she then took another breath and began the next part, "Ohh , I know something has changed, never felt this way, and right here tonight."
She was still embarrassed but hoped the stranger would come back on stage because from the corner of her eyes she could see him leaving. This made her grip the microphone a little and waited to see if he would come back as she still stared straight ahead. | |

Troy walked back to the mic when she got up to 'opened my heart' he opened his mouth and a soft "ohh" came out, he took a quick glance at the girl then up at the screen and sung a-long with her "I know" he paused, as he didn't have to sing until "never felt this way."
Troy looked at the girl and smiled, he loosened up a little then sang the chorus with her "this could be the start of something new" | |

She decided to do the same thing and took the microphone out of the stand. "It feels so right to be here with you" and she blushed a little as she sang, "And I know looking in your eyes I feel in my heart, the start of something new."
She put her microphone back on the stand as she waited for her next part. Still she couldn't believe she was singing up on the stage considering she always got nervous infront of people. | |

Troy took the mic out of the stand and began to kind of dance on the spot as he began the next verse "ohh yeahh, now who would ever thought that we'd both be here tonight.." Troy walked closer to girl and once again extended his hand a little so it looked like he caressed her cheek. | |

She was having fun and started to turn her microphone to the right. She then put it straight as she let her fingers trace the stand. Her eyes saw the boy drawing closer so she took a step back as she heard the crowd cheering them on.

She blushed because she couldn't believe that she did that and continued to sing, "It feels so right to be here with you to be here with you, and now looking in your eyes I feel in my heart the start of something new."
As the music started to slow down Gabriella began to sing each word softer and slower, "It's the start of something new, It feels so right be here with you, and now looking in your eyes, I feel in my heart, the start of something new." then the music was at a stand she looked at the boy and finished with, "The start of something new." and smiled at the crowd. | |

As the music slowed Troy looked into the girls eyes with a smile, a million things were going through his mind, one was not to mess up the last part of the song but more importantly was that he was finally going to get to talk to the beautiful girl with the amazing voice. Troy softly sung "the start of something new."

Gabriella heard the boy saying that his name was Troy and she smiled again. So far she liked the name and it was easy to say, "Gabriella!" she called out as the crowd made more chants. Her hands then extended to see if Troy would shake it. She still couldn't believe she sang that song with someone she just met but it felt right. Like there was some type of connection between the two. Hopefully they could become friends or maybe something more.

"Is it almost midnight?" she asked herself and began to try and find a clock but then Troy stopped her by asking his question. She nodded and replied with, "Sure.". As she got off the stage she grabbed her little blue jacket and the pair went out.
